A security freeze stops an identity thief from opening new accounts or credit by preventing anyone from accessing your credit report. Placing a freeze will not lower your credit score.

How to Place a Security Freeze

This is a free service and can be done easily by contacting the following credit reporting agencies. You will need to contact all three individually either on-line or by certified letter. You may have to provide your full name, address, Social Security number, and date of birth, addresses for the last five years.
